Why Diamond Polish?
Diamond polishing improves wire guides' surface finish, which lowers friction, minimizing defects and breakages, upgrades wire quality and reduces machine downtime.
Is it expensive?
Not really. We polish ceramic wire guides with diamond dust, which does not carry the beauty and prestige of the gem-grade diamond. In addition, industrial diamonds are synthesized, not mined, which substantially lowers the cost. The automated polishing processes which we developed over the years further reduce the labor cost. In the long run, when you consider all the benefits realized, you will be convinced that diamond polished wire guides actually cost less then the unpolished wire guides.
Which materials do you diamond polish?
Only wire guides made of ultra-hard materials, namely: Alumina, Ruby, Sapphire, Titania, Tungsten Carbide and Zirconia are fitting for diamond polishing. Soft materials like stainless steel are not qualified. The diamond dust would become imbedded into the steel, which acts like a grinding wheel in the case of a pulley.
Do you polish guides of complex geometries?
Yes, we do. To date we have yet to come across a ceramic wire guide which defied our polishing process. All the wire guides shown above are diamond polished on the surfaces where the wire comes into contact with the wire guide.
Is there a standard for diamond polished surface?
Surface roughness standard tables can be found in engineering handbooks, but only the very fine ones in the tables are appropriate to describing the roughness of a diamond polished surface. Therefore we define our own diamond polished surface roughness in 4 standards to which we adhere to.
